Sleeping Traditions

Spring 2024
We were directed to curate and design an exhibit of our choice, integrating architecture, environmental graphics, digital experiences, and physical installations into a comprehensive visitor journey. "Sleeping Traditions: A Global Exploration of Sleep Culture" is an exhibition on how different cultures have slept in the past.
It includes objects such as headrests from the Middle Kingdom and Southern Song dynasty, quilts from 19th century Japan and Hawaii, paintings depicting workers sleeping in the 16th century Netherlands, and modern depictions of sleep. It also includes sensory explorations of sleep from around the world, presenting flora which promote relaxation, and nightime soundscapes from various cities. Accompanying the exhibition are a guidebook and posters.
